Primates At-A-Glance
Prosimians of ASIA
View and Learn
Asian primates range in size from some of the world's smallest prosimians, to medium-sized monkeys,
to very large orangutans.
to very large orangutans.
Asian prosimians include lorises and tarsiers.
It should be noted that tarsiers belong to the suborder Haplorrhini, the "dry nosed" primates,
along with the true simians (the monkeys and the apes). Haplorrhines are considered to be less primitive than the strepsirrhine "wet-nosed" primates and, somewhat controversially,
continue to be categorized in the prosimian group.
